In the decade since The Ripped Bodice opened their first location in Los Angeles, CA, hundreds of romance-specific bookstores have opened across the US (and around the world). And it's no surprise - romance has long dominated the publishing industry as the best selling genre. Romance Writers of the Rockies' home state of Colorado has had an explosion of romance bookstores in the last few years and with writers like Rebecca Yarros, Meghann Quinn, Amy Award, and more being based in the state, it's no wonder. These stores are filled with major titles as well as local authors, host events and book signings, run book clubs, and provide community for local romance readers around the state of Colorado. The Romance Section
The Romance Section (formerly Sugar and Spice Books) started out in 2023 as the Fated Mates online bookstore and opened its brick & mortar location in early 2026. In addition to books, they stock bookish goods from local artists and makers and host craft night, bingo nights, book fairs, and more events. Good Girl Cafe and Bookstore

Spicy Librarian
In the RiNo neighborhood, Spicy Librarian was Denver's first brick & mortar romance bookstore and in its first year of business has become a staple of the Denver reader scene, hosting book launches and signings, book clubs, and movies on the roof in the summer. Just south of Colorado Springs in the small town of Fountain, CO, you can find Book Baddies CO. In addition to exclusive stickers, you'll find cute bookish merch and, of course, a great selection of romance novels!
